Colorado Springs Health Partners physicians developed their clinical research program to take advantage of the opportunity to examine new treatment for patients and stay on the cutting edge of new medical possibilities. How we decided to get involved Studies are conducted by the National Institutes for Health and by pharmaceutical companies. All proposed studies must be reviewed by an Institutional Review Board which ensures patients' rights are protected. CSHP chooses to serve as an investigator in the study if it will benefit the overall medical needs of our patients, length of study, projected outcomes and our ability to recruit appropriate candidates are considerations in making a decision. Benefit to participants Each study has specific requirements for participants. When you meet these requirements, you have the opportunity to play a more active role in your own health care, in addition to helping others who will benefit from the results. You also gain access to new treatments before they are available to the public. When you are selected, you will be asked to complete an informed consent which outlines in detail the requirements and risks involved in the study.
