Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

This class is a collaborative effort by the CSHP’s Health Management and Pulmonology departments. During a 2 hour session, people with a diagnosis of either Asthma or COPD will learn about their disease, what trigger factors to avoid, and what medications are used in treatment.  Each attendee will receive a Peak Flow Meter and learn how to use it and graph the results.

In addition, attendees will learn:

  • Appropriate use of spacers with inhaled medications.
  • The difference between daily/long term and quick relief/rescue medication
  • Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) – what each test is and what the results indicate.
  • Nutritional and diet aspects of  lung disease
  • A physician referral is required. Please call 635-5803 and we will assist you in getting started.
