Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) |
This class is a collaborative effort by the CSHP’s Health Management and Pulmonology departments. During a 2 hour session, people with a
diagnosis of either Asthma or COPD will learn about their disease, what trigger factors to avoid, and what medications are used in treatment. Each attendee will
receive a Peak Flow Meter and learn how to use it and graph the results.
In addition, attendees will learn:
- Appropriate use of spacers with inhaled medications.
- The difference between daily/long term and quick relief/rescue medication
- Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) – what each test is and what the results indicate.
- Nutritional and diet aspects of lung disease
